Paro

Paro is where most journeys into Bhutan begin. The broad, river-fed valley holds Rinpung Dzong, the National Museum in the old Ta Dzong watchtower and Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the country's oldest temples. High above it all, Paro Taktsang, the Tiger's Nest, clings to a cliff roughly 900 metres above the valley floor and is reached by a steady half-day hike through pine forest.
